The Friends have run three Family Fun Dog Shows in Queens Park which have all been very successful. Numerous dog related stalls came along to support the event along with Willow Vets (Acacia Vets) . Trophies were provided by Maccombs Pet Store, a good dog course was run by Eric Peachhey and Wirral Alsatian club ran a dog agility course.
The actual dog showing consisted of nine different classes including a fancy dress class were the dog owners showed great ingenuity in dressing their dogs up, the dogs thoroughly enjoyed all the fuss to.

Friends floral golf bag competition
This competition was run in conjunction with the Open Golf coming back to Hoylake after many years absence. Local children and groups were invited to turn a golf bag into a floral display and the public to vote on the best three. This proved a very popular event and we had difficulty coping with so many floral golf bags but all went well. The chairman of the Royal Liverpool presented the prizes.
Every June we hold a fundraising Garden Part to raise funds for the Village flowers. The whole community is involved in ensuring its success. Shops, cafes and individuals donate an array of cakes and raffle prizes. We have a huge plant bring and buy sale of locally grown plants. Local musicians provided easy listening music as their contribution.

A first for us was to hold a Proms evening in Queens Park. We were fortunate to have a local production company ‘Lormac Productions’ who had contacts on the operatic stage. It was a wonderful evening of music and songs taken from the most popular theatre musicals. The event was well attended with many enjoying a picnic on the grass. The Friends of the park and other caterers served light refreshments, which helped fund the event and bring additional funding for the park itself.
On the following Sunday afternoon we held a children’s Disney Proms which was an incredible event. The children were all dressed up in their favourite Disney costumes, so many princesses. The children (and adults) listened and sang along to many Disney favourites. We had face painting, balloon modelling and refreshments stalls. Mickey & Minnie also called in to say hello and have their picture taken. A highlight of the afternoon was a Disney parade around the park which everyone joined in.
To celebrate the Queens 90th birthday we held a Big Lunch birthday party in aptly named Queens Park. We hired actors to play the Queen and Prince Phillip who played their parts exceedingly well. The 472 Hoylake Air Cadets led the Queens car into the park were she met the Mayor and other officials. A special lunch was then laid on for the Royal party followed by meeting local children who had dressed up for the occasion of meeting the Queen.
holy trinity school bug hunt in queens park
With having a bug house in Queens Park, local school children from Holy Trinity went on an organised bug hunt. It was a lot of fun for the children, going round the park with magnifying glasses. After the hunt they had refreshment and headed back to school in a very organised line.
